Description The Department of Psychology at the Eberhard Karls
University Tübingen invites applications to fill an open research associate
position at the research group for „Biological Psychology“ (Prof. Dr.
1 PhD-Position (m/f/d, salary: 65% E13 TV-L1)
The position is available for the duration of three years, starting on October
1st, 2021, or soon thereafter. The position is financed within the research
project „Automatic and controlled information processing in conflict tasks“
funded by the Baden-Württemberg foundation from Germany and has no teaching
duties. The project will be led by Dr. Mittelstädt in close collaboration with
Prof. Dr. Leuthold and Prof. Dr. Ulrich (research group „Cognition and
Perception“). The project aims at providing a better understanding of the
role of sensory and motor processes underlying goal-directed behavior. For
this purpose, the effects of a range of modality-specific experimental
manipulations (e.g., motor force) on behavioral measures will be
investigated across different conflict
The successful candidate will plan and conduct studies within the above
research project, will analyse and interpret the results of the performed
studies, will help in the preparation of manuscripts for publication, and will
be involved in the development of follow-up studies. S/he will be intensively
supported by the research group in obtaining a PhD in cognitive psychology.

Candidates should have very good English skills and a very good Master's
degree in Psychology, Cognitive Science, or a related subject (or will have
obtained a Master‘s degree shortly before the start date of the position).
High motivation and interest in basic experimental cognitive research is
expected (ideally on topics like cognitive control and/or action control).
Skills in programming or prior knowledge of the topic (cognitive control,
action control) are desirable. The University of Tübingen is an equal

The salary will be paid according to the general pay scale of German
Universities named „E-13 TV-L“. After taxes as a single (i.e., not married or
living with a life partner; no children), the monthly salary of 65% E13 TV-L
is at least EUR 1690 (net salary after taxes and health insurance).
