PhD position - Center for Regional Economic Development (CRED)

The Department of Economics at the University of Bern and the Center for Regional Economic Development (CRED) are offering a PhD position.

The successful candidate will have the possibility to complete a PhD thesis at the Department of Economics. We expect active participation in the research projects of the CRED, with a research focus on urban and regional economics and local public finance, as well as some contribution to teaching activities. We strongly encourage the successful candidate to participate in the reputable Gerzensee doctoral program (https: // szgerzensee.ch). Attending a similar doctoral program in economics is also possible.

You will have the opportunity to conduct academic and policy-relevant economic research in an inspiring environment at the University of Bern. The appointment is for a fixed term of three to four years. We are able to offer a position with attractive financial benefits and a flexible starting date.

We expect the candidate to have completed a master degree, preferably in Economics, that qualifies for a dissertation at the University of Bern. In- depth knowledge of Public Economics and Econometrics as well as statistical software such as STATA, R and Matlab are a strong advantage. Excellent command of English is required; knowledge of German is highly recommended.
