governance project on mountain hay meadows

Get involved in an exciting project and become part of a team dedicated to transdisciplinary sustainability research at one of Germany's most beautiful universities!

Your tasks

You will closely collaborate with researchers from Austria, Sweden, Denmark and Armenia within the project ALPMEMA, funded within the European Biodiversa+ programme. The aim is to identify best practices to maintain a favorable conservation status of mountain hay meadows despite the threat of underuse and to explain the influence of different ownership regimes as well as protected area status on these practices. For this, and with a focus on a case study site in the Southern Black Forest (Germany), you will carry out a stakeholder mapping, conduct a solution scan (including a Delphi study), interview land managers, and lead participatory scenario development workshops.

Your profile

We are looking for a person who

  • holds an above-average Master degree in land-use sciences (e.g., agriculture), landscape planning, environmental (social) sciences, or similar
  • has a keen interest in human dimensions of biodiversity conservation
  • can conduct qualitative social-empirical field work with land managers in a German-speaking context (e.g., interviews, participatory workshops) (first experiences required, further training as part of the position)
  • is eager to engage in scientific discourse (via conferences, publications etc.)
  • contributes to an open-minded, creative and mutually supportive environment in an international team
  • has excellent communicative skills in both German and English
  • Employment conditions

We are offering a 65% position for a fixed period of three years (start date: 01.04.2023), in accordance with the German pay scale E13 TV-L with all associated social security benefits.
