  • The thesis work will be carried out in the new Paris-Saclay Neuroscience Institute (NeuroPSI), located on the CEA site in Saclay, which brings together 21 research teams, platforms and technical services allowing the study of brain function in several animal models at all levels. The PhD student will work in the "Cognition, Plasticity and Neuropathologies" team, composed of 3 CNRS researchers, 2 professors, 2 research engineers, 1 postdoc and 2 PhD students (https: // neuropsi.cnrs.fr/departements/cnn/equipe-cyrille- vaillend/). He/she will have access to a spacious and modern laboratory and will work in collaboration with clinicians and with several foreign teams. Access to the CEA site is served by a bus service from the RER stations Le Guichet and Massy.

Mouse behavior, development of new automated tests for mouse behavior in familiar environment, biochemical analysis, immunohistochemistry, confocal imaging, interactions with clinical teams. The general objective is to understand the neurogenetic and neurobiological bases of behavioral and cognitive deficits associated with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, using mouse models of this disease, and to test new therapeutic approaches to compensate these deficits. The comparison of different mouse lines carrying specific mutations will allow the characterization of genotype- phenotype relationships and new therapeutic strategies adapted to each mutation. The behavioral study will focus on social and emotional behavioral disorders and on executive dysfunctions. The neural bases of these disorders will be characterized in a collaborative project and compensatory strategies based on behavioral pharmacology will be adapted to the observed phenotypes. Activities Mouse behavior, development of new automated tests for mouse behavior in familiar environment, biochemical analysis, immunohistochemistry, confocal imaging, interactions with clinical teams.

Expected Skills Strong motivation for: behavioral studies in mice, research at the interface between neuroscience and preclinical research, programming, statistics applied to biology, ethics. Organization, rigor, diligence, team spirit, initiative, good writing skills in French and English, fluency in English.
