The adjunct instructor provides theory and practical instruction to a level sufficient for students to develop the skills necessary to become employed in the profession of Pharmacy Technician. Essential duties and responsibilities are expected to be completed when adjunct instructors are instructing an assigned course.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teach assigned courses in accordance with course competencies/objectives and lesson plans, in classroom/lab and online/virtual settings to meet program needs including, but not limited to, days, evenings, and weekends

  • Prepare announcements, utilize virtual discussion boards to provide lecture and lesson content to students, and communicate with students via email, messaging and grading feedback in the required timeframe and frequency

  • Coach, guide, mentor, monitor progress, and empower students to achieve optimum success achieving completion of objectives and learning outcomes with required technology

  • Keep annual professional development plan updated per accreditation requirements, complete a minimum of 6 teaching skill in-service and 3 discipline specific professional growth development training hours per year, and provide documentation to the Academic Dean or proxy

  • Prepare and submit attendance, grades and other academic reports in accordance with institutional policy

  • Participate in school retention initiatives by utilizing all provided system tools, including social media, and contacting absent students to offer assistance

  • Attend academic and instructional coaching meetings

  • Provide office hours and accessibility for students, faculty and staff while keeping calendars up to date

  • Meet obligations for the on-campus, off-campus, and online time necessary to meet professional responsibilities for classes, laboratories, office hours, meetings, professional development and other assignments

  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED

  • Certificate or Diploma for Pharmacy Technician

  • Active PT – Pharmacy Technician License or Certification

  • 5+ years practical work experience in the Pharmacy Technician field in the last 10 years

  • Experience using Microsoft Office programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook

  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous faculty and/or instructor experience in a Pharmacy Technician program

  • Associate's degree

  • Educational theory and methodology experience

  • Experience with Canvas or other education technology system

  • Experience teaching in a blended education environment
