We have a vacancy in the Pharmacy Logistics procurement and stock management section. The role includes purchasing routine and emergency supplies of pharmaceutical products and managing stock shortages.

The successful candidate will have procurement knowledge and experience, ideally with a pharmacy background, and excellent communication skills. This is a small team where working under pressure, prioritising work and problem- solving are essential skills. The ability to work independently and in a team is necessary.

There will be opportunities for training and development and a requirement to gain an accredited qualification in procurement and supply.

This is a full-time position (37.5 hrs/week) which may include early mornings, late nights, weekend and bank holiday shifts on a rota basis.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities Your Responsibilities What you'll do

The main tasks are:

  • Process purchasing orders in accordance with procedures
  • Obtain urgently requires medicines
  • Liaise with suppliers over shortages, damages and errors
  • Daily management of sourcing and monitoring stock shortages
  • Involvement in the drug contract management process
  • You will be supported in gaining a recognised accredited qualification in procurement and supply.

  • A GPhC approved qualification for pharmacy support staff or Registered pharmacy technician in UK by GPhC or working towards qualification suitable for registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the GPhC within six months
  • 3 GCSE's or equivalent grades A to C in English and Maths (if qualifications gained outside the UK evidence of equivalent standards must be demonstrated at applicants own expense)
  • Desirable criteria
  • Completed or working towards Level 4 CIPS or equivalent qualification in Purchasing and Supply
  • IT qualification
  • Management training/Foundation management
  • Other healthcare qualifications
  • Experience Essential criteria
  • Use of information technology in the workplace or within education or voluntary sector i.e. Word and Exce
  • Previous pharmacy experience (hospital, community or clinical trials/research)
  • Purchasing and dealing with Pharmaceutical companies
