For the project "Nanostructured Metal-Oxid-Semiconductor (Photo-)Electrodes for Efficient Water Splitting" we are looking for a PhD student or a post-doctoral research associate. The project is part of the Cluster of Excellence ‘e-conversion' and is carried out in close collaboration with several other groups of the Cluster. It seeks to uncover bifunctional reaction mechanisms and strong metal support interactions during the electrocatalytic evolution of hydrogen and oxygen. The work combines the fabrication of well-ordered nanostructured metal-oxide-semiconductor electrodes employing state of the art nanotechnology with fundamental studies of their electrocatalytic properties for water splitting using a variety of spectroscopic and electrochemical methods. You will profit from the excellent working conditions and the research facilities at the e-conversion cluster and the TUM School of Natural Sciences.

About us: The position is in the Nonequilibrium Chemical Physics group of the Physics Department of the TUM School of Natural Science. One core area of the research group is energy conversion at the solid-liquid interface. We combine nanofabrication methods, state-of-the-art spectroscopic techniques and modeling to advance our understanding of physical and physicochemical properties of electrochemical interfaces relevant for applications in electrochemical energy conversion.

Our requirements: Excellent candidates should hold a M.Sc. in physics, physical chemistry or related disciplines, have strong experimental interest and practical experience in at least one of the following fields: Electrochemistry and nanofabrication techniques. Good communication skills (spoken and written) for work in an international and interdisciplinary team as well as the ability to work independently are required.
