The Department of Pediatrics at the University of North Carolina School of
Medicine is seeking an open rank, fixed term, clinical faculty position to
practice in our multi-specialty academic practice in Wilmington, NC. This team
is part of an innovative partnership between UNC Health, UNC School of
Medicine and Novant Health to provide specialty care to children from
communities throughout southeastern and coastal NC The Novant Health – New
Hanover Regional Medical Center (NH-NHRMC) facility is a full spectrum
community-based, multispecialty practice and a children's hospital that
includes a 45 bed Level III NICU, Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and inpatient
unit. The faculty member will also be expected to develop and perform clinical
activities in surrounding outreach locations in Southeastern NC.
As a top-tier academic medical center, UNC Children's upholds a four-tiered
mission to “CARE,” aligning clinical care, advocacy, research, and education
to deliver world-class family-centered care. The UNC Division of Pediatric
Gastroenterology in Chapel Hill offers full spectrum tertiary and quaternary
care for children with disorders of the esophagus, stomach, intestines, liver,
biliary tree and pancreas. Through the partnership between Novant Health and
UNC, NH-NHRMC will become the tertiary care referral hospital for children in
Coastal and Southeastern NC. Additionally, there will be ongoing expansion of
educational opportunities with medical students, other health profession
students, and residents. Though not the primary focus of the center, research
opportunities are also available.
This is a full-time clinical position with focus on outpatient outreach
clinics but also to include diagnostic procedures and inpatient consultation
services. Diagnostic endoscopic skills are required. The candidate must be
board certified / eligible in Pediatric Gastroenterology. Individuals
interested in building outstanding clinical programs are particularly

future growth. Additionally, the position is based in a terrific community
setting with teaching and educational opportunities, while also being
connected to a larger academic division of Pediatric Gastroenterology in
Chapel Hill. Salary will be based on experience and aligned to community-based
specialist rates. Incentive compensation will support highly productive
providers and meeting other targets aligned with broad system goals.
Wilmington, NC, is a charming, coastal city of ~125,000 people located in the
southeastern corner of North Carolina between the Cape Fear River and the
Atlantic Ocean. It is a popular destination because of its moderate, four-
season climate, historic preservation district, annual cultural events, and
numerous championship golf courses. The historic downtown offers a 1.75-mile
River walk and the nearby Wrightsville, Carolina and Kure Beaches are all
within half-hour drives from downtown Wilmington.
The candidate must be board certified / eligible in Pediatric
Qualifications and Experience
