  • About You

    You will have previous experience processing in a high-volume, transactional payroll and be adaptable to system and process changes. Your intermediate Excel skills support your calculations and you are familiar with formulas and how they work.

    You thrive in a busy, collaborative team and contribute to the team's highly effective communication and customer service standards, interacting with staff at all levels of the organisation.

    About the Role

    Reporting to the Consultant: Payroll Services, the Payroll Officer is primarily responsible for contributing to the production of a fortnightly payroll service (including superannuation and salary sacrificing) to all University staff, using a complex and integrated Human Resources Information System (HRIS).

    Providing a point of contact for day-to-day queries, the Payroll Officer supports an agile and flexible approach to service delivery and works as part of the Payroll Services team to promote and deliver high quality, value- adding, best practice payroll services across the University.

    Essential Skills and Experience

  • Certification in payroll administration or relevant discipline or equivalent knowledge, skills and experience using complex HR systems
  • Highly effective communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills and the demonstrated ability to interact constructively and collaboratively with staff at all levels of the organisation
  • Demonstrated ability to operate as a team member or independently as required showing a high degree of initiative and judgment
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve both numerical and written issues through the interpretation of legislation, policy and procedure
  • Highly developed time management and organisational skills including the ability to prioritise workload to meet deadlines in a high volume, complex environment
