Salary Information Commensurate with experience Department Summary
HSC Health is the academic clinical practice for the Health Science Center. Focused on improving health outcomes to build a healthier community. HSC Health primary and multispecialty care clinics are located on the HSC campus in Fort Worth. Our care teams extend to local hospitals, surgery centers, long-term and continuing care centers, and mobile and in-home care. HSC Health's interprofessional teams work collaboratively to achieve an optimized treatment plan tailored to the individual patient. Physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, physical therapists, pharmacists, social workers, psychologists, specialized technicians, and nurses work together while intentionally integrating health care students, residents, and fellows to deliver care to our community.
Position Overview
HSC Health is seeking to hire a Patient Access Representative to join our team. The Patient Access Representative will perform clerical duties using specific knowledge of medical terminology and hospital, clinic, or laboratory procedures. Responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to: Scheduling appointments. Billing patients. Compiling and recording medical charts, reports, and correspondence.

Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED and one (1) year of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Job Duties
o
Operate office equipment, such as voice mail messaging systems, spreadsheet, or other software applications to prepare reports, financial statements, letters, case histories, or medical records
o
Answer telephones and direct calls to appropriate staff. Schedule and confirm patient appointments, surgeries, or medical consultations
o
Maintain medical records, technical library, or correspondence files
o
Greet visitors, ascertain the purpose of visit and direct them to appropriate staff. Complete patient appointment check in and check out
o
Compile and scan medical charts, reports, or correspondence, using a computer
o
Receive and route messages or documents, such as laboratory results, to appropriate staff
o
Transmit correspondence or medical records by mail, e-mail, or fax
o
Perform various clerical or administrative functions, such as ordering and maintaining an inventory of supplies
o
Interview patients to complete documents, case histories, or registration. Gather patient insurance information and check eligibility
o
Maintain patient schedule prep and ensure it is completed within the directed timeframe
o
Performs other duties as assigned to meet ongoing needs of the department.
