Description of OrganizationKing's Cross Presbyterian Church was formed in March 2020, particularized, and became part of the ARP (Florida Presbytery). By God's grace, we were able to purchase a building and spent many months renovating it while meeting outside in a pavilion on site on Sunday mornings for worship. Our beautiful building is now complete and serves our worship, Sunday school, and fellowship needs very well. We are located in Sapulpa, Oklahoma, a community of 22,000 near Tulsa. We are a very welcoming body of believers who desire to hear God's Word preached from a Reformed perspective and endeavor to spread the love of Christ to the community. The church's outreach includes Sapulpa and the whole Tulsa metropolitan area (a population of over one million) and beyond, which is reflected by our membership and attendance.
King's Cross Presbyterian Church, now in its third year, has an active membership of 110 and a total membership of 130. Our membership includes approximately 75% adults and 25% children. Although our church is barely three years old, it has proven to be very stable with regular attendance of about 100 worshipers and a few more streaming online and a steady stream of visitors. We have Sunday School for all ages, from toddlers to adults as well as children's church during the sermon time of our worship service. In addition to Wednesday evening Bible study, we have five Life Groups that generally meet bi-weekly in various homes to share in Bible study, prayer, and fellowship.
King's Cross' membership consists of a Caucasian majority, but also includes Latino, multi-racial, and Native American populations. The church is comprised of people in various occupations from professional (professors, medical specialists, teachers, accountants, social workers, business managers) to blue collar positions (construction, plumbers, welders, electricians, farmers). As one member puts it, “We are 100% welcoming to all; (we are) hard-working people who love Jesus.”
The surrounding communities of Sapulpa, Glenpool, Jenks, and the city of Tulsa offer numerous hiking and biking trails, lake activities, golfing, fitness centers, parks, multiple restaurant centers from urban to suburban, a variety of music genres from country to classical with two professional orchestras, an opera and ballet company, public and private schools including three classical schools, and campuses of several major state and private universities. We have both the small town “feel” and the big city “energy”: the best of both worlds.
King's Cross supports local community, national, and international missions. We have a keen interest in meeting both the spiritual and physical needs of the homeless communities in Tulsa and Sapulpa through the support of several organizations such as the City of Hope outreach. Each year we offer a Christmas store in Sapulpa where we sell new gifts for garage sale prices. We also participate in downtown Sapulpa seasonal celebrations by handing out candy and Bibles to the community. Several of our members are involved in the Gideon ministry, food pantry, KidsKloset for disadvantaged children, The Demand Project (human trafficking), Shoulder to Shoulder (ministry counseling and care), Gathering Hearts for Honduras, Crates for Ukraine (MTW), Sister India that supports women and girls in India become self- sufficient, the Voice of the Martyrs, and several other foreign missions' ministries which help orphans and distribute Bibles throughout the Middle East and Eastern Europe. We also broadcast our service live on Facebook each Sunday in order to reach as many people as possible.
