Job Reference: 1018235 Your new role We are seeking an experienced all-rounder to drive the development of major partnerships and proposal opportunities for major funding within industry driven research. You will support the Strategic Directors to liaise with industry, government and researchers to drive key business development strategies, develop business plans and provide reporting to the senior management team. To this end, you will demonstrate an ability to focus both internally and externally to build relationships and deliver concrete outcomes.

You will gain exposure to a wide range of industry sectors from energy and renewables, mining, resources, defence, space, agriculture and health. You will be the key link between researchers, industry, external government, and research and industry bodies. The role provides an exciting opportunity to work on diverse and ground breaking research projects making real world differences.

In this role you will:

  • Drive new research opportunities for Curtin University to collaborate with industry and government
  • Manage a portfolio of key strategic partnerships and build and maintain relationships with stakeholders
  • Develop and implement effective business development plans for existing and new partnerships
  • Identify new work opportunities and emerging products, and work with senior stakeholders to pursue them
  • Coordinate and manage all relevant documentation for business development opportunities
  • Manage projects from initiation to contract and ongoing relationship management
  • Increase engagement and collaboration across a wide range of initiatives such as events and workshops
  • Provide advice and contribute to strategies, policies, processes, and programs to deliver the objectives of the Research Partnerships team
  • We are looking for someone with:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport and develop relationships effortlessly that translate to research projects.
  • Completion of a relevant degree with considerable relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of relevant work experience and/or education/training
  • High level planning, project management and leadership skills
  • Proven experience in a business development and stakeholder engagement based role with a strong industry focus
  • Delivery focused and action oriented in an agile world
  • Highly agile approach to work with outstanding interpersonal and oral communication skills, with the ability to develop and manage strategic relationships
  • Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to construct clear and concise briefs, business cases and reports
  • Strong organisation skills with the ability to manage multiple and often competing tasks with attention to detail and within deadlines
  • Ability to work effectively with a cross functional team internally and externally
  • Strong critical analysis skills
  • Strong understanding of the research landscape in Australia is desirable
  • Experience in commercial contract coordination is also desirable
