Part-time Research Assistant I/II in the Medical Ethics and
Humanities Unit of the LKS Faculty of Medicine (Ref.: 511610) (to
commence as soon as possible for one year, with the possibility of renewal
subject to satisfactory performance)
Applicants should possess a Higher Diploma or above in a Humanities or Social
Science discipline such as Anthropology, Cultural Studies, English Literature,
History, etc., preferably with a background in social and cultural studies.
They should have an excellent command of written and spoken English and
Chinese (including Cantonese), and the ability to work collaboratively and
independently. Those who have an appreciation of youth subcultures in Hong
Kong are particularly welcome. Applicants with a higher academic qualification
may be appointed as Research Assistant I.
The appointee will assist Dr. Alex Gearin with a qualitative research project
on emerging wellness practices in Hong Kong, including nature therapies,
meditation, and virtual reality. He/She will also assist in the research
process such as research designs, literature review, management of
questionnaire, data collection and translation, in addition to interpretation
and preparation of project reports; and perform any other duties as assigned.
The appointee will be expected to work during daytime on weekdays for not more
than 30 hours per week. Work outside normal office hours or on weekends may be

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience
