This position requires someone who can troubleshoot software problems identified by college constituents and can provide solutions. An individual in this position must be able to retrieve data from relational databases and interpret that data in support of administrative software usage. Prior experience supporting Ellucian Banner products is a plus. This is a part time position requiring 19 hours of work per week. To maintain administrative software and associated data, and to work in conjunction with users to develop solutions to improve services for college constituents.

Required Quals Summary

A Programmer at Blinn College provides technical support for the college's administrative software and associated data. A Programmer works in conjunction with the users of administrative software to develop solutions to improve services for students, faculty and staff.

Principal Accountabilities

Principal Accountabilities

Serves as primary point of contact and is responsible for support of administrative systems assigned to this employee.

Researches application software, data to provide guidance to users and Director as institutional, industry, and regulatory requirements change.

Analyzes, documents issues, and corrects problems in application software, data.

Performs other duties or projects as assigned by Director.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree with a technology or computer systems major.

Experience in software support or in software programming.

Proficiency in using Microsoft Word and Excel.

Minimum Competencies

Minimum Competencies

Demonstrated experience in reading and writing SQL queries.

Proficiency in using tools such as SQL Developer, Toad.

Knowledge and understanding of relational databases.

Experience in writing queries, reports from relational databases.

Ability to interface with and communicate effectively with all levels of higher education staff, both verbally and in writing.

Ability to work in a team environment.

Ability to problem-solve.

Ability to multi-task and to prioritize work assignments.

Ability to secure and protect college data and property by prudent and reasonable business practices.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge in and experience using one or more of these software products: Ellucian Banner, Degreeworks, Automic UC4, Evisions Intellecheck/FormFusion/Argos, CBORD CSGold, Adirondack Housing Director.

Two years of experience in a software support or programming position.

Work experience in a higher education environment.

Knowledge and experience in reading and writing PL/SQL.

Experience with Oracle databases.

Experience with a Linux environment.
