NYU Florence is seeking a part-time lecturer to teach a course on History of Immigration in Europe and the US from WWII to Present, under the sponsorship of the History Department in the College of Arts and Science of New York University. The course would be taught in the Fall 2021 semester (Sept. 2 - Dec. 21, 2021). Please review the sample syllabus as it appears on our course description website.

Please note that the course is taught on a 15-week schedule with one class meeting per week that is 2.5 contact hours. In addition to the time required for course preparation, classroom instruction, and assessment, the instructor is required to hold a minimum of one set 60-minute "office hour" at NYU Florence per week, during which time the instructor will be available to meet with students.

Qualified candidates should hold a PhD in History and have a strong record of research as well as experience teaching. Candidates who have experience in teaching within an American university system to a diverse English speaking undergraduate student body are strongly encouraged to apply. Preference will be given to those who have a minimum of 2-3 years' experience teaching at the university level in English.

The successful applicant will shape the syllabus based on the standards and content requirements determined by the sponsoring department. The sponsoring department seeks a candidate who has familiarity with and interest in contextualizing the current issues regarding immigration in Italy and in the European Union.
