Job Description:

  • The BDIC (Bachelor's Degree with Individual Concentration) Program at the University of Massachusetts Amherst is hiring for a non-tenure track part-time (50%) faculty to teach 4 sections per academic year of BDIC 350- Junior Year Writing and/or BDIC 494I- Integration and Innovation, our core offerings that satisfy the University's junior year writing requirement and the University's integrative experience requirement.
  • Classes are small, workshop-based, and writing-intensive emphasizing real- world interdisciplinary writing and speaking assignments that prepare BDIC students for today's dynamic interdisciplinary environments.
  • Openings may be available to teach on-campus courses as well as those offered through the University Without Walls (UWW). These latter courses may be taught during the academic year or over the winter or summer terms and are delivered in hybrid, mixed modal or fully online, allowing faculty to teach from anywhere with a dependable Internet connection. Successful candidates will have expertise or evident potential in providing quality teaching at the undergraduate level. A demonstrated ability to teach in both face-to-face and distance education formats is highly desirable.
  • Requirements:

    A Master's Degree in English, rhetoric, composition, technical writing, business communication, or related field is required. Evidence of experience and excellence in teaching is essential. Preference will also be given to candidates who have experience with, interdisciplinary writing, taught online and those with UMass experience.
