Minimum Education/Training/Experience

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the education required.

Associate's degree or higher in Emergency Medical Technology or related field from a regionally accredited college or university.

Texas or DSHS EMS-P licence

Instructor licence

In good standing with TXDSHS

Must have a minimum of three (3) years of non-teaching work experience in the field.

Preferred Education/Training/Experience

EMS coordinator or advanced coordinator licence.

A Master's degree in Emergency Management, Fire Science, Paramedicine with evidence of working toward a doctoral degree in a related field.

Significant experience in higher education.

Successful experience teaching adults in a post-secondary institution.

Experience in online course development and teaching.

Excellent communication skills in multicultural settings.

Experience in enhancing the student's learning experience by integrating a variety of methods and strategies into the teaching process and maintaining a learning-centered environment.

Experience in collaborating with colleagues across the college in the construction and continuous improvement of measurable learning outcomes.

Minimum Knowledge & Skills

Sufficient knowledge of clinical experiences to fulfill the job duties as listed.

Preferred Knowledge & Skills

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Provider certification

Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Provider certification

Licensing/Certification Requirements

Must be certified or licensed in Texas as a paramedic or nationally registered as a paramedic.

Must be Texas EMS Instructor license or higher.

Job Duties

The Part Time EMS Clinical Coordinator is responsible for the organization, administration, continuous review, planning, development, and overall effectiveness for clinical experiences.

The Part Time EMS Clinical Coordinator is a professional, credentialed faculty responsible for providing quality learning experiences in credit or non-credit courses in their area of expertise for all students.

Responsible for providing clinical practical learning experiences on the main campus and off-site.

Responsible for scheduling clinical staff and preceptors.

The Clinical Coordinator is expected to perform all related duties in a timely manner and in accordance with the mission, policies, and procedures of the college, and in accordance with any and all accrediting bodies.

Under the supervision of the department chair/program director, the clinical coordinator will educate and train students to gain skills, knowledge and behaviors and support successful entry into the workplace.

Employee must be able to perform the following essential functions to the satisfaction of the employee's supervisor:

Meet with clinical sites, develop new clinical sites and develop positive clinical relationships with community partners.

Coordinate the overall clinical aspects of the EMS program activities with the EMS Program Coordinator.

Demonstrates proficiency in instruction, evaluation, and supervision of students.

Coordinating clinical education with didactic education.

Coordinate clinical activities – to include maintaining clinical competencies.

Provide direct and indirect supervision of students while at clinical sites.

Develop clinical schedules, syllabi, and orientation information.

Oversees the collection, maintenance, and reporting of all documentation required by the clinical sites, including, but not limited to: immunization records, criminal background screenings, drug screenings, federal exclusion lists, BLS/ACLS/PALS/PHTLS certification, HIPAA training and compliance, and Standard Precaution training and compliance.

Participate in local events related to student recruitment and any other activities related to the EMS program and community outreach.

Compliance with TX DSHS, CoAEMSP and CAAHEP standards for accreditation.

Maintain confidential student records in compliance with policy.

Maintain clinical and educational competencies in area of instruction.

Perform other related duties as may be assigned.

Physical Requirements

Positions in this class typically require: reaching, standing, grasping, talking, hearing, and seeing.

Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
