AEL/GED/ESL Instructor in the Adult Education and Literacy Program (POOL).
Part-time positions provide instruction in college and career readiness, GED,
or ESL. A part-time instructor will be responsible for instructing in day-time
or evening depending on course of instruction and class location.
The Adult Education and Literacy will report directly to the Director of the
Adult Education and Literacy Program. This individual's duties include, but
are not limited to, the following: • Planning and providing instruction •
Administering and evaluating student assessment • Assisting students with
setting goals • Maintaining student portfolios and daily attendance logs •
Compiling and submitting monthly activity reports • Researching and planning
the curriculum in accordance with Texas AEL Standards and syllabi •
Maintaining an annual minimum of 15 clock hours of professional development
related to adult education.
• A baccalaureate degree is required. • Teaching certificate and experience
highly preferred. • Excellent computer and technology experience. • The
ability to work with a diverse student and employee population. • Excellent
skills with student engagement and retention strategies • Ability to teach
students in a multi-level classroom • Applicant should be self-motivated and
multi-task oriented with the ability to set priorities in a busy environment •
Must have strong organizational skills and have a strong work ethic
Salary Range & Fringe Benefits:
This is a part-time hourly position, at a rate of $19.00 per hour. No benefits
are attached to this position.
