Optometry and Vision Sciences Research Support Technician

Job description

Fixed term for 24 months, 29.6 hours per week

The University of Huddersfield is seeking to appoint a technician to support and facilitate research projects conducted by academic staff in the Centre for Vision across the Life Span (CVLS) in the Department of Optometry and Vision Sciences, School of Applied Sciences.

You will be educated to a degree or diploma level and/or have an equivalent level of experience working in a technical role in a field relevant to vision sciences (eg. psychology or optometry) or the optical industry. Recent post- qualification experience working with research participants or in an optometric clinical environment and experience working with children is required.

This is an opportunity to help make a difference to vision science and optometry research projects in a University setting. You will join a well- equipped Optometry Department and a new research centre in the School of Applied Sciences where you will have a key role in developing and supporting the technical requirements of a clinical research team.

The School is committed to Athena SWAN principles and the promotion of equality and diversity and is proud to hold a Bronze Athena SWAN Award.

We offer an excellent employment package including hybrid working, blending a mix of remote and on-campus working (dependent on work duties).

For a confidential discussion about this post please contact Dr Sarah J Waugh, Reader in Optometry and Vision Sciences. s.j.waugh@hud.ac.uk

If you are currently registered as a student at the University, please note that you may only apply for part-time jobs of 15 hours or less per week.
