  • Context and scientific challenges:

    Multifunctional materials are of interest to develop smart devices changing them from passive ones to active ones. This kind of materials have a great potential to improve their properties aiming at the design of sensors or energy conversion devices.

    We propose for a post doctoral position to develop new formulations with specific fillers. The amount and their dispersion will be controlled to enhance multifunctional properties of the composite. For this purpose, the first part of the post-doctoral position consists in providing an overview on smart composites to help in the choice of the filler (nature, size, amount, functionalization, etc …) and their processing. Different characterizations will be carried out (SEM, TEM, mechanical and electrical ones) to make structure/properties relationships. The functionalization of the fillers will be studied and its impact on mechanical and electrical properties of the composites. Finally, the desired properties of the composites will be evaluated in dedicated setups developed in the LGEF lab.

    The recruited person will be located at INSA Lyon in the LGEF and IMP Labs.

    The contract period is 18 months, starting on 2021 November (or by agreement) and the net monthly salary is 1900€ and can be higher depending on the experience you have.

    Candidate profile

    At the date of the application, the candidate should have a PhD with relevant skills in at least one of the following areas: composite materials, mechanical and/or electrical properties and related fields. Candidates should have a strong motivation in experimental physics and material science. Teamwork abilities, dynamism, rigor and creativity will be highly appreciated. Excellent level of English (understanding, speaking and writing) is essential.
