General Information

The Office of Admissions at James Madison University is accepting applications for an Operations Manager. The mission of the Office of Admissions is to support the university's commitment to excellence by recruiting, accepting and enrolling those students who are able to contribute to and benefit from the university's challenging array of academic and extracurricular programs. The Operations Manager coordinates the electronic documents that support over 30,000 applications for admission. Operations Manager serves on the Application Processing Leadership Team and Provides supervision and leadership to department employees. Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversees the operation of the PeopleSoft Student Administration system as it pertains to the admission process.
  • Manages the operation of OnBase (our document management service) to ensure documents are processed in order to complete applications in a timely fashion. This includes a deep understanding of this product and the ability to train wage employees and student assistants on the use of this software to enable work flow and business processes to run fluidly.
  • Represents the Office of Admissions at PeopleSoft Student Administration system and Technology Coordinators meetings.
  • Manages the data entry of Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate test scores into the Student Administration system. This data is highly confidential and must handled through secure processes.
  • Provides leadership, supervision, performance evaluation, guidance and encouragement to department employees.
  • Manages multiple electronic document sites.

  • Qualifications


  • Demonstrated knowledge of personal computers, windows applications, relational databases, document management systems, and client server systems.
  • Knowledge of query tools and report writing software beneficial.
  • Knowledge of the admission process and PeopleSoft's Student Administration system is beneficial
  • Ability to analyze business processes and provide leadership to employees required.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent problem solving skills.

    The Annual Security and Fire Safety Report contains information regarding campus security and personal safety including topics such as: crime prevention, the university police law enforcement authority, crime reporting policies, disciplinary procedures, protocols for the immediate notification of students and staff upon confirmation of a significant emergency on campus and other matters of importance related to security and safety. The report includes statistics for the most recent three-year period of reported crimes that have occurred on campus; in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by JMU or its affiliates; and on public property within or immediately adjacent to and accessible from the campus.

    The Annual Security and Fire Safety Report includes campus housing fire statistics for the most recent three-year period, a description of each on- campus student housing facility fire safety system, the number of fire drills held during the previous calendar year, policies or rules on portable electrical appliances, smoking, and open flames in student housing; and procedures for student housing evacuation in the event of fire along with other fire safety information.
