Position Summary
The University of North Carolina's Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is recruiting an open track Assistant Professor of Maternal Fetal Medicine. Responsibilities include care of inpatient and outpatient obstetrics patients, education of medical students, residents, and fellows, and participation in the division's research mission. The division's clinical programs include high-risk obstetric care, perinatal consultation, prenatal diagnosis, ultrasound, genetic services, invasive fetal therapy, and perinatal outreach. Division faculty members are engaged participants in the activities of UNC's Collaborative for Maternal and Infant Health (www. mombaby.org), which provides multidisciplinary care coordination for families referred for fetal malformations. Division members actively participate in student and resident teaching and provide subspecialty training for six Maternal Fetal Medicine fellows through its 3-year ABOG approved fellowship program.
The academically oriented division has an outstanding record of health services research, reproductive genetics, translational and epidemiologic research, with a strong portfolio of NIH and HRSA funded research and programs. UNC is one of the participating institutions in the NICHD Maternal- Fetal Medicine Units Network (MFMU) and has an active Women's Reproductive Health Research Career Development Program. Biomedical and public health graduate programs offer extensive opportunities for collaboration in basic science and translational research.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
The successful candidate must have earned a MD or DO degree, have completed a 4-year ACGME approved OB-GYN residency and a Maternal Fetal Medicine fellowship accredited by ABOG/ABMGG. Board Certification in OB-GYN and either Board Certification or being an Active Candidate in Maternal Fetal Medicine are required.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
In addition to a record of excellence as a clinician and clinician educator, the candidate should ideally have a strong background and interest in community engaged clinical research and quality improvement. The candidate must display interest and aptitude for team-based science, with excellent communication and writing skills. Those with experience and interest in health equity, quality improvement and implementation science are particularly encouraged to apply.
Special Physical/Mental Requirements
Some night, weekend and holiday work will be expected, in rotation with other division members.
