The Library and Information Science (LIS) Department in the School of Communication and Information (SC&I) at Rutgers University, New Brunswick, invites applications for an open rank faculty position (tenure track at assistant, associate, or full professor levels) in Human-Computer Interaction.

Requirements:
● Outstanding record of HCI research that contributes novel theoretical, methodological, societal, and design innovations based on rigorous investigation of the interaction between people and technical systems.
● Technical expertise and scholarly experience in fields such as information science, communication, health, CSCW, social media, and ethical and explainable AI, or other HCI-relevant domains.
● Ability and desire to assume active teaching and curricular roles in our inter-disciplinary Ph.D. program, our highly ranked Master of Information (MI), and our Information Technology and Informatics (ITI) undergraduate major — one of the largest on campus.
Responsibilities of tenure-track faculty members include undergraduate and graduate teaching assignments, an active program of research in the candidate's area of scholarly expertise, and service contributions in accordance with the university policy for tenure‐track and tenured appointments.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience
Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in a relevant field is expected as of June 2024. Applicants should have a demonstrated record or strong likelihood of top-tier peer-reviewed publications and evidence of or preparation for effective teaching. Applicants at the associate level or above should provide evidence of leadership in research, teaching, service, and, if appropriate, external funding.

The School of Communication and Information (SC&I) is a dynamic center of learning at the heart of the Rutgers-New Brunswick campus. Founded in 1982, SC&I research and teaching is delivered by three academic departments: Communication, Journalism and Media Studies, and Library and Information Science. Immunization Requirements
Under Policy 60.1.35 Immunization Policy for Rutgers Employees and Prospective Employees, Rutgers University requires all prospective employees to provide proof that they are vaccinated against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption. Rutgers University may require certain prospective employees to receive an updated (bivalent) vaccine dose. Under Policy 100.3.1 Immunization Policy for Covered Individuals, if employment will commence during Flu Season, Rutgers University may require certain prospective employees to provide proof that they are vaccinated against Seasonal Influenza for the current Flu Season, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption. Additional infection control and safety policies may apply. Prospective employees should speak with their hiring manager to determine which policies apply to the role or position for which they are applying. Failure to provide proof of vaccination for any required vaccines or obtain a medical or religious exemption from the University will result in rescission of a candidate's offer of employment or disciplinary action up to and including termination.
