The Center for Excellence in Community Mental Health within the Department of
Psychiatry at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of
Medicine is recruiting a full-time psychiatrist. Strong part-time candidates
will also be considered. This faculty member would serve as Medical Director
for our Encompass first-episode psychosis program in Raleigh, NC and also
serve other adults with serious mental illness through our Wake STEP clinic,
co-located with the Encompass program. Some telehealth will likely also be
involved. Duties will include direct patient care within a multidisciplinary
team as well as teaching and supervision of fellows, residents, medical
students and other trainees from a variety of disciplines. Successful
candidates will be enthusiastic about advancing the delivery of best practices
in the care of the seriously mentally ill population, as well as dissemination
of best practices and innovations to other psychiatrists. Faculty rank will be
commensurate with experience. Protected time for research may be available for
applicants with a strong research background. At least two years of experience
with the seriously mentally ill population preferred.
Applicants for general psychiatry positions must have an MD and be BC/BE.
Applicants must be eligible for North Carolina licensure.
Qualifications and Experience
The successful applicant will have strong clinical skills and experience
working with a diverse population of patients in a community mental health
setting. At least two years of experience working with the seriously mentally
ill population preferred.
