The Human Development and Consumer Sciences (HDCS) Department in the College of Technology at the University of Houston seeks to hire a tenure-track faculty member at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor rank with expertise in statistics and applied analytics related to Human Resource Development (HRD), Retail, Consumer Science, Foresight, or related area.

The scholar will have expertise and experience in data analytics and applications, including collecting, curating, and analyzing traditional and big data sets using SPSS, Tableau, Excel, and survey building tools (e.g., Qualtrics, Survey Monkey). Knowledge of Python and R languages and experience working with industry partners using data analytics are pluses. In addition, the scholar should have experience in effectively teaching and mentoring students and have a research agenda in either Retail or HRD. The faculty appointment will begin on September 1, 2022.

Given the important focus on research at a Tier One institution, the HRD and Retailing programs are seeking a scholar who can contribute to the success of undergraduate and graduate programs by (1) building and maintaining a productive research program to include high-quality publications, external funding, and professional presentations, (2) teaching undergraduate and graduate courses (e.g., applied analytics, statistics, assessment and evaluation, mixed methods), and (3) participating in activities that further develop the HRD and Retailing programs and the HDCS Department. The Department of Human Development and Consumer Sciences includes two undergraduate and four graduate (M.S.) degree programs.

Candidates should have a doctorate degree in HRD, Retail, or related field or expect to complete their doctoral program by July 2022.
