Overview: Based in Mead, NE, and located at the Eastern Nebraska Research, Extension, and Education Center (ENREEC), this position is part of a team of Agricultural Economists working throughout Nebraska addressing issues of local, regional, and statewide importance to ranchers and farmers. This is a 12-month, non-tenured position. The Educator has primary responsibilities for developing and delivering a coordinated, proactive and effective extension program in Nebraska in livestock and crop production system economics, that: a) improves profitability and sustainability; b) enhances resiliency to cyclical swings in production input costs and market prices; c) expands producer awareness and confidence in using risk and strategic management tools; and d) assists livestock and crop producers in applying financial management and marketing strategies that will enable them to improve their economic decision making. The incumbent is an active participant in developing solution-based scholarly resources as a member of the state-wide Agricultural Economics/Farm and Ranch Management team and a key member of the Center for Agriculture Profitability (CAP). In addition to the above-described duties, the individual will be expected to accept committee assignments, reporting responsibilities, and other special ad hoc assignments as requested at the administrative unit, college/division, institute, and/or university level.
