Online instructors are employees of OLL Services LLC. The LLC provides online support for educational institutions affiliated with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, including Brigham Young University-Idaho, BYU Pathway Worldwide, BYU Hawaii, and Ensign College.

Online Environment OLL Services LLC is supported and guided by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Those hired through this employment posting will primarily instruct courses for Brigham Young University-Idaho and BYU Pathway Worldwide. Online instructors employed by the LLC are expected to support the missions of the institutions to which they are assigned to teach. All employees are required to agree to maintain the standards of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as defined by the Institutional Honor Codes and other applicable policies, both on and off campus, 24 hours a day. Position Summary This is an interest list posting for Medical Billing and Coding courses.

MCO 180 – Introduction to Medical Billing and Coding. Introduces students to the Revenue Cycle and how it affects the payment of services involved in the medical industry, as well as HIPAA laws and violations. Topics include collecting patient demographics, types of insurance plans, claim form submission, patient billing, third party payments, denials, and collections. This course is also an introduction to subjects that will form the basis for Body Systems and Medical Coding courses, which are to follow. Topics include an overview of body structures, the organization of body systems, introduction to CPT (procedures), ICD-10-CM (diagnoses), and HCPCS coding, as well as the use of modifiers and coding guidelines.

MCO 201A – Body Systems 1. Companion course to MCO 201B and should be taken prior to or in conjunction with MCO 201B. This course builds upon the information learned in MCO 180 or 195A. Further exploration into several body systems are discussed in terms of Medical Terminology, Anatomy and Physiology, Pathophysiology, and Pharmacology. Students will be expected to understand and apply the knowledge from this course to reading and comprehending patient charts and documentation.

MCO 201B – Medical Coding 1. Companion course to 201A and should be taken in conjunction with 201A. This class builds upon the information learned in MCO 180 or 195A and MCO 195B. Medical Terminology, Anatomy and Physiology, Pathophysiology, and Pharmacology from unidentified patient chart notes and operative reports are analyzed and assigned CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS codes to bill the patient and/or their insurance. MCO 201B will introduce specific body systems, and use: CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS to completely, and accurately code documented diagnoses and procedures.

MCO 202A – Body Systems 2. Companion course to MCO 202B and should be taken prior to or in conjunction with 202B. This course builds upon the information learned in MCO 180 or 195A and MCO 201A. Continued exploration into several body systems are discussed in terms of Medical Terminology, Anatomy and Physiology, Pathophysiology, and Pharmacology. Students will be expected to understand and apply the knowledge from this class to reading and comprehending patient charts and documentation.

MCO 202B – Medical Coding 2. Companion course to 202A and should be taken in conjunction with 202A. This class builds upon the information learned in MCO 180 or MCO 195A and MCO 195B, MCO 201A, and MCO 201B. Diagnoses and Procedural coding for specific body systems, from unidentified patient chart notes and operative reports, will be analyzed and assigned CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS codes to completely, and accurately code documented diagnoses and procedures.

MCO 203A – Body Systems 3. Companion course to MCO 203B and should be taken prior to or in conjunction with MCO 203B. This course continues to build upon the information learned in MCO 180 or MCO 195A, MCO 201A, and MCO 202A. Continued exploration into several body systems are discussed in terms of Medical Terminology, Anatomy and Physiology, Pathophysiology, and Pharmacology. Students will be expected to understand and apply the knowledge from this course to reading and comprehending patient charts and documentation.

MCO 203B – Medical Coding 3. Companion course to 203A and should be taken in conjunction with 203A. This class continues to build upon the information learned in MCO 180 or 195A and MCO 195B, MCO 201A, MCO 201B, MCO 202A, and MCO 202B. Diagnoses and Procedural coding for specific body systems, from unidentified patient chart notes and operation reports, will be analyzed, and assigned CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS codes to completely, and accurately code documented diagnoses and procedures

Online adjunct faculty mentor students and facilitate teaching and learning.

As teaching opportunities for the course arise, interest list applicants selected for further review will be asked to participate in our interview process (this does not require travel to Rexburg).

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Bachelor's degree or higher and professional experience in a related field desired.

MCO 180: Billing experience with some coding experience. CPC certification preferred.

MCO 201A, MCO 202A, MCO 203A: Experience in the medical field. Currently, we have RN's teaching our courses. They will be addressing topics such as Medical Terminology and Anatomy, along with some pathophysiology and pharmacology.

MCO 201B, MCO 202B, MCO 203B: CPC certification and coding experience

While online and/or classroom teaching experience is helpful, it is not necessary

Work Schedule

Online adjunct faculty work from home. The schedule is flexible, but instructors should plan to be present in their course 5 days each week (Monday through Saturday).
