The fellowship is integrated in the research project “EMOTION - authEntic cheesoMics: from big data, through labOratory, towards the future of protected desIgnation of OrigiN” (PTDC/OCE-ETA/1785/2020), financed by national funds (PIDDAC) through FCT/MCTES.
Duration of the fellowship is 6 months, renewable, for an equal period of time and with the maximum duration of 1 year (12 months). Renovation is conditioned by the achievement of the aims displayed in the description of the experimental work. A final report must be presented.
The fellowship holder will participate in the isolation, characterization and maintenance of microorganisms isolated from food, in the optimization and application of OMIC technologies (e.g., metagenOMICs) for the characterization of Portuguese traditional cheeses and corresponding data analysis. The fellowship holder will also participate in the elaboration of the project's indicators and results dissemination, through scientific publications and participation in conferences, as well as in other tasks related to the project's implementation.
To apply to this fellowship, under penalty of non-admission, applicants must include the following documents: (1) Letter of interest; (2) Detailed curriculum vitae, additional training and professional experience, and other supporting documents considered relevant; (3) Certificates of qualification of the academic degrees held, specifying the final classification and, if possible, the classifications obtained in all subjects taken, or, alternatively, the candidate's declaration of honor that he completed the master's degree by the end of the term of this application; (4) Record of recognition of academic degrees awarded by foreign higher education institutions and record of the conversion of the respective final classification to the Portuguese classification scale, or, alternatively, the candidate's declaration of honor that she/he obtained recognition of the foreign degree equivalent to that of graduated by the end of the application period (applicable to candidates holding foreign academic degrees); (5) Declaration of enrollment in a course not leading to an academic degree, in the academic year 2021/2022. Selection processApplications considered admissible will be scored on a scale from 0 to 20, taking into account the candidate's merit and the result in each of the following evaluation criteria:
Criterion A: Curricular evaluation, with a weight of 60%;
Master's Degree in the area of the competition with a classification higher than 16 points (40%)
Scientific publications in Microbiology (10%), only indexed journals will be considered, publications in Q1 journals focused on Food Microbiology of Traditional Portuguese Products will receive a bonus; Proven experience in the methodologies mentioned in point 5 (10%)
Criterion B: Motivation letter (10%)
Criterion C: Other factors considered relevant, including participation in specialty conferences and involvement in activities considered relevant within the scope of the project (10%)
Criterion D: Interview, with a weight of 20% (limited to the four candidates with the best classification resulting from the application of criteria A, B and C).
Note: If the interview is not carried out, the 20% weight given to it adds to the weighting of the motivation letter.
For the purposes of the decision on the granting of the research fellowship, candidates will be ranked according to the weighted average of the classification obtained in each of the four criteria, translated by the following formula:
Final Classification =( 0.6 ×A)+( 0.1 ×B)+( 0.1 ×C) +( 0.2 ×D)
