Position Summary:

Influence serves a critical communication function. Much of our personal and professional success comes from our ability to get things done with and through others. We need to be able to build effective relationships and overcome conflict and differences, in order to influence the thinking, perceptions, and actions of others. This course considers theory and research in influence, persuasion, and negotiation, and considers the potential effects of influential and persuasive communications.

This course has multiple sections and a common course outline. This course will be

coordinated. All instructors will be required to follow a proposed course outline.

Qualifications – Required: Master's

Qualifications – Discipline: Leadership-focused discipline (e.g., Leadership Studies, Organizational Leadership)

Qualifications - Other: Prior post-secondary level teaching experience in the academic discipline of Leadership.Please note: Teaching experience limited to serving as a Teaching Assistant or to delivering guest lectures will not be considered. In addition, applicants whose Leadership Education qualifications are limited to the context of elementary and/or secondary schools will not be considered

    All job postings will be for in-person teaching, unless they are indicated "OC" for Online Course or "Remote" for remote teaching. OC and Remote teaching is defined below.

    Courses created specifically for online instruction have been collaboratively designed by a content expert (normally a faculty member) and an instructional designer and digital media and educational technology specialists. Online course development is guided by instructional design strategies and makes use of pedagogically led technology. Online courses are intentionally developed for instructors and students to be separated by space (location) and/or time (often both).

    Remote instruction, as the term is used here, uses technology-enabled tools and software to facilitate course delivery when in-person instruction is not possible in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. "Remote" instruction is not directly comparable to "online course" instruction. The difference is not in the quality of the content, but in the design of content delivery.

    In-person fall teaching will be supported by classroom safety and hygiene protocols aligned with public health guidelines in effect at the time and will adhere to any COVID-19 related university policies including the COVID-19 face covering policy.
