Position Job Title Nursing College Assistant Professor, Las Cruces

The faculty in this position will teach in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing
(BSN) program at the NMSU-Las Cruces campus. During the first year,
responsibilities will entail clinical teaching in the lab as well as hospital
and/or community health settings. In subsequent years there may be
opportunities for didactic and simulation teaching, although clinical teaching
will always be required. Teaching assignments are determined by the Associate
Director for the Undergraduate Program. In addition to teaching, college-track
faculty participate in course and curriculum evaluation, serve on departmental
committees and participate in other departmental and university activities.
Applicants should be able to communicate effectively with students, staff and
other faculty members, utilize medical and nursing equipment relevant to
area(s) of nursing practices, use computer and classroom technologies.
Competency in nursing education and pedagogy, and knowledge of current nursing
education issues and trends is an asset.
Plans, designs, and provides clinical and/or laboratory instruction which reflect an understanding of the program's objectives and curriculum (12 credits of teaching per semester).
Evaluates student achievement of curricular and course objectives and learning outcomes related to nursing knowledge and practice.
Participates in advising and guidance of the students.
Hold office hours for the purpose of meeting with students to provide individual instruction, guidance and remediation.
Assists in curriculum design, implementation, and evaluation.
Assists in the development, evaluation, and revision of student admission, progression, retention and graduation policies within the policies of the institution.
Contributes to program, department, and college activities and initiatives including participating in program and department faculty meetings and serving on committees and participating in university functions.
Participates in graduation ceremonies.
Participates in faculty recruitment and interview activities.
Performs other duties as assigned by Associate Director for the Undergraduate program and School of Nursing Director.
1. Master's degree in Nursing at the time of hire (Master's or doctoral
degree students who are graduating in December 2021 should include a statement
about their graduation date in their cover letter)
2. Three years of full-time professional nursing clinical experience
3. Current New Mexico RN or APRN license, Nursing Licensure Compact state RN
license, or eligible for New Mexico RN or APRN licensure
4. In good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse or Advanced Practice
5. Current CPR/BLS for Healthcare Provider certification.
