Posting Summary

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Nursing Care Coordinator for the department of Surgery at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.

Manages the surgical research staff, protocols, trials, budgeting, billing for services rendered and collaborating with the appropriate parties to ensure all research is done according to protocol, policies and university procedures. Provide both administrative and clinical efforts to surgery research.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

  • Evaluate potential trial/protocols for feasibility within the department and work with PI to organize needs.
  • Collaborate with PI, residents or other faculty seeking to initiate trial, work with sponsor and University/System resources to bring contract, budget and IRB to completion.
  • Work with IRB to obtain trial approval.
  • Coordinate necessary patient care, collect data, submit necessary data in collaboration with PI and to meet trial needs and deadlines.
  • Obtain trial consent as needed/required or work with PI to obtain.
  • Work with financial analyst to ensure all financial records are maintained, trial billing is done regularly, and reimbursement is tracked.

    Minimum Education and Experience

  • At least three (3) years of outpatient experience.
  • At least one (1) year of clinical nursing experience with familiarity in the use of electronic medical records (EMR).
  • Certifications/Licenses

  • Registered Nurse Licensure in the State of New Jersey.
  • Must maintain a license in good standing.
  • ACLS and BCLS
  • Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Demonstrated ability to provide culturally competent health education to patients and families.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess patients over the phone, accurately triage non-urgent and urgent patient calls, and provide accurate and safe telephone advice.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to function in a team environment.
  • Basic word processing and computer skills.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
  • Equipment Utilized Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Physical Demands: Position requires standing 2/3 of the time, walking 2/3 of the time, requires sitting 1/3 of the time, use of hands to finger, handle or feel 2/3 of the time, reach with hands and arms, 1/3 of the time, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl 1/3 of the time, talk or hear over 2/3 of the time. Ability to lift and move patients with/without reasonable accommodations.
  • WorkEnvironment: Moderate noise (examples: business office with computers and printers, light traffic). Use of personal protective equipment including an N-95 respirator. May be required to accompany a field staff member for patient assessment outside of the clinic.
