Position Description Provides primary care as part of a health care team in an ambulatory setting in a particular discipline. Provides patient education and counseling as well as physical assessment. May participate in teaching programs for students and other student residents. Work is performed under usual clinic conditions and requires a high degree of contact with patients, families, and other clinic personnel and outside professionals. Some positions in the classification require travel to outreach clinics and home visits, and participation in educational efforts and special programs that occur outside of normal working hours.

Major/Essential Functions

  • Formulates care plan based on physical exam or other data and implements plan.
  • Orders tests and procedures as necessary.
  • Consults with attending or resident physicians prior to initiation of major procedure or plan.
  • Performs a complete physical examination, assessment and distinguishes between normal and abnormal findings.
  • Performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as necessary.
  • Elicits records and interprets a complete health history.
  • Writes admissions, discharges and medication orders with co-signatures
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Position Specific:

  • Active unrestricted certification of Pediatric Nurse Practitioner issued by the National Certification Corporation(NNCC), with experience specializing in Endocrinology.
  • Active or eligible for license as a Registered Nurse issued by the Texas Board of Nursing and APN status designation as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner.
  • Eligible for Delegated Prescriptive Authorization through the Texas Board of Nursing.
  • Active enrollment in NCC Certification Maintenance Program.
  • Certified in NRP.

    Minimum Hire Rate 5298.75

    Required Qualifications Graduated from an approved accredited nursing program; current RN license in the State of Texas or have the ability to transfer your license to Texas. Certification as a Nurse Practitioner in the appropriate nursing specialty from an approved certification program as recognized by the Texas State Board of Nurse Examiners. Recognition by the Texas Board of Nurse Examiners as an Advance Practitioner.
