Duke University Hospital is hiring a Ambulatory Nurse Manager for the
Virtual Care Center - Telehealth
GENERal description
The Virtual Care Center – Virtual Clinic Nurse Manager will provide daily
operational leadership for the virtual clinic similar to a normal in-person
clinic/unit. The Virtual Care Center is expanding hours to 7 days a week,
8am-8pm. The nurse manager will coordinate and manage the daily operational
and personnel needs of the Virtual Care Centers Virtual Clinic and staff. This
includes ensuring effective delivery of clinical patient care virtually, as
well as compliance with administrative, telehealth, and clinical policies and
procedures.
The position is a hybrid position with remote and in office work. The Virtual
Care Center is located at 14 Moore Drive, Durham, NC.
JOb duties
Manage multi-specialty nursing services delivered within the Virtual Care
Center –Virtual Clinic.
Manage various personnel actions including, but not limited to hiring,
orientation, performance appraisals, promotions and scheduling; and
counsel and conduct formal discipline of clinical staff.
Collaborate in the development, implementation and expansion of learning
opportunities and skill development for all staff. Analyze, develop and
maintain an effective and efficient nursing care delivery system that
reflects patient and family needs across the continuum; achieving desired
outcomes.
Promote virtual education for patients, patient families and the
community; participate in direct virtual patient care activities as a
targeted strategy for role modeling or information gathering.
Collaborate with nursing colleagues in ambulatory care to promote optimal
utilization of nursing resources among the various virtual clinics.
Identify clinical and technical operational needs; manage appropriate
technology equipment and functionality and monitors equipment maintenance.
Assess the virtual environment locations and make recommendations to
ensure optimal patient privacy, patient and provider satisfaction and
compliance with various regulatory bodies with the telehealth.
Collaborate with Director of Telehealth in determining the fiscal
requirements of the virtual clinic, as an extension of departments in
person clinic. This includes: submit budgetary recommendations, including
necessary nursing personnel and patient care materials necessary for the
provision of care. Cultivate exemplary customer service throughout the
organization; promote effective communication skills to include, but not
limited to problem solving, assertiveness, and support for team members,
feedback, active listening and conflict resolution
Develop and implement processes to enhance virtual clinic operations and
practices for ongoing quality improvement.
Develop, document, implement and monitor Virtual Care Center-Virtual
Clinic written policies and procedures reflective of the virtual clinic
ambulatory health care site mission and objectives. Manage specific clinic
in absence of Director. Be available on-call for emergencies involving the
facility, staff members and patients.

certification required.
