Nurse (holding the functional title of Research Nurse) (several posts) in the Oncology Trials Unit, Centre of Cancer Medicine, School of Clinical Medicine (Ref.: 520381) (to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance)
The Centre of Cancer Medicine is a platform to facilitate the academic development of oncology, created to foster collaboration among cognate disciplines and (sub)specialties within the Centre of Cancer Medicine under the School of Clinical Medicine, and with other Schools, Departments, Institutes, Hospitals and Colleges. The Oncology Trials Unit is dedicated for the management, organisation and conduction of cancer and related clinical research.
Applicants should possess a Bachelor's degree in nursing, and be registered with the Hong Kong Nursing Council or equivalent. They should have a good command of spoken and written English and Chinese, fluency in Cantonese, good interpersonal and communication skills, the ability to work independently and in a team, as well as good computer knowledge including Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint and Excel). Those with past experience in clinical work at public hospitals would have an advantage.
The appointees' scope of work includes, but not limited to, subject identification and recruitment; medical record retrieval and assessment; conducting interviews and health education regarding treatment plan, possible complications and symptom management; data and blood collection; co-ordinating diagnostic investigations; following up results of medical investigations and liaising as required with the patient and multidisciplinary team; psychosocial support for the patient and their family; data entry and database management; clinical trials reporting and management; and providing technical support as assigned. Contact with patients and clinical specimen will be required. Irregular working hours including working on weekends/holidays may be required.
