By delegation of competence, according to Dispatch no. 8272/2020, published in
the Republic Diary n.º 166, 2. ª series de 2020-08-26, the Director of NOVA
School of Science and Technology at the NOVA University of Lisbon, Professor
Virgílio António Cruz Machado, hereby informs that a competitive tender is
open for the hiring, in the form of an open-ended contract, on an exclusive
basis, of a Senior Technician in the context of the research unit "Institute
of Nanostructures, Nanomodelling and NanoFabrication"/FCT NOVA, (I3N -
UIDB/50025/2020-2023) and financed by national funds in the FCT budget.
Candidates may apply to the competition:
Nationals, foreigners and stateless persons aged 18 years old or over;
Who, on the closing date for applications, hold a bachelor's degree and/or master's degree in the area of human resources, management, economics, science management, or in a related area that is complemented by a scientific background;
Show capacity to work centrally in any of the scientific areas for which the competition is open;
Master the English language and have proven experience in science communication and/or in the organization and management of scientific research projects.
Preference is given to candidates with experience in using the ERP Software SINGAP, PURE - Scientific Information Management System of NOVA;
Experience in computer tools such as Windows, Office, Mendeley, Web of science, Scopus and ORCID;
Experience in supporting the elaboration of technical scientific reports of projects, supporting the elaboration of applications for scientific employment in the scope of the R&D Unit, and in the entire hiring process, supporting the elaboration of selection and recruitment processes for grant contracts and employment contracts.
The contracted has the objective of supporting all scientific aspects of the
R&D Unit "i3N – Materials Research Center (CENIMAT) – FCT NOVA", namely in
the support to the elaboration of applications for national, international and
European projects, support to the financial execution of projects,
presentation and elaboration of financial reports and in the support to the
scientific aspects, constitution and update of databases related to the
scientific activity, management of R&D funding, funded by “Fundação para a
Ciência e Tecnologia, I.P.”.
Organization of scientific events, communication and dissemination of science
activities, support to the organization of promotion of scientific culture and
technology, editing and management of multimedia content and bibliographic
research and database updating. Support for the preparation of scientific
technical reports of projects, the preparation of applications for scientific
employment and in the whole process of hiring, selection and recruitment of
fellowships and employment contracts within the scope of the Unit funded by
“Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia, I.P.”.
Applicable legislation and regulations
- Regulation No. 577/2017 of 31.10, which regulates the careers, recruitment
and employment contracts of non-teaching and non-researcher staff under
employment contract at the New University of Lisbon;
- Law No. 7/2009 of February 12 (Labor Code), in its current wording;
Everything that is not included in this announcement will be referred to the
terms of the Procedural Code.
Place of work
The work will be carried out at CENIMATi3N facilities of the Materials
Science Department, Faculty of Sciences and Technology, New University of
Duration of the contract
The employment contract is concluded for an undetermined resolutive term,
under the terms of paragraph g) of no. 2 of article 140 of the Labour Code,
and has a maximum duration of 24 months.
The termination of the funding, the extinction of the project or the
conclusion of the tasks that constitute the object of the present tender
procedure will determine the contract's expiry, which will occur with the
communication referred to in number one of article 345 of the Labour Code. In
other words, if it is anticipated that the term will come to an end, the
employer will communicate its termination to the employee at least seven, 30
or 60 days in advance, depending on whether the contract has lasted up to six
months, six months to two years or longer.
Amount of monthly salary
The gross monthly salary is € 1 205,08, which refers to the 2nd salary
position at salary level 15-A, to which will be added a food subsidy
equivalent to that applied to Civil Service employees.
The selection of the Higher Technician to be hired will be carried out through
the evaluation of his/her scientific and curricular background, with the
following selection criteria and respective weighting:
Curricular evaluation (60%)
Professional Selection Interview (40%)
The selection methods to be used will be as follows: Curricular evaluation and
professional selection interview. Selection methods are eliminatory when the
final mark is less than 10 in the curricular evaluation. Only applications
that match the desired profile will be considered, and others will be
automatically excluded. Only the five applicants who obtain the five highest
scores in the curricular evaluation will go on to the interview.

The jury deliberates by absolute majority, abstentions are not allowed.
Minutes are taken of the jury meetings, containing a summary of what occurred,
as well as the votes issued by each member and respective reasoning, and will
be made available to candidates whenever requested.

Hearing of Interested Parties
The lists of admitted and excluded candidates, as well as the final
classification and ranking lists of the candidates, are subject to a hearing
of interested parties, in accordance with the provisions of articles 121 and
122 of the Administrative Procedure Code.
The jury's final decision will be ratified by the head of the FCT NOVA, who is
also responsible for deciding on the hiring.
The list of admitted and excluded candidates and the final ranking list will
be published in the CENIMATi3N building in a visible place and sent by email
to all candidates.
