The Social Agency of a Corporate Body (Southern Europe, 14th-17th Centuries). The employment contract will be for a fixed term, for a period of 12 months, possibly renewable, under the terms of paragraph h) of no. 2 of article 140 of the Labour Code, at the Universidade Nova de Lisboa - Faculdade de Ciências Sociais e Humanas (hereinafter referred to as NOVA FCSH).

    The opening of the tender procedure, as well as the appointment of the selection board, was authorised by order of the Rector of the Universidade Nova de Lisboa, dated 11 of november of 2022.

    1. 1. The recruitment of the Research Assistants will be carried out under the terms of paragraph b) of no. 1 of article 4 and of article 12, both of Regulation no. 393/2018, of 12th June, published in Diário da República, 2nd series, no. 1233 of 28th June.

    2. Characterisation of the vacancy:

    The project VINCULUM - Entailing Perpetuity: Family, Power, Identity. The Social Agency of a Corporate Body (Southern Europe, 14th-17th Centuries) is intended:

    General Objective:

    To conduct a background research on the phenomenon of attachment in Southern European spaces between the 14th and 17th centuries, with Portugal and its Atlantic areas as a case study, in order to achieve a new definition, which essentially considers the attachment as a social agent, whose main components were kinship, power, and identity. The approach followed is based on an overcoming of traditional boundaries, consecrating as the period of study the centuries referred to and the continental and Atlantic spaces. It will also include both comparative perspectives and the study of future social reconfigurations of the linkage phenomenon.

    Specific objectives:

    The project will comprise extensive documentary surveys, both in public and private family archives. The data collection will allow the construction of a large database, gathering all documents related to each bond, following a theoretical model that seeks to reconstruct the information systems of the past, thus testing a new methodology developed in the research preceding the proposal. The database will gather around 7000 links and will allow systematic investigations organised around the new conceptual definitions proposed by the project. On the basis of the database, different thematic analyses of the social agency of bonds will be carried out (projects 2, 3 and 4, devoted respectively to "Kinship", "Power", and "Identity"; project 5, consisting in the in-depth and comparative analysis of the Atlantic Area bonding societies).

    3. Functional Content:

    The Research Assistants hired will be integrated into the project team by participating in the following scientific research tasks:

    (a) To survey and work on archival documentation relating to the project, in accordance with the guidelines defined by its scientific officers;
