The Honors College seeks to develop a pool of candidates for possible temporary/nontenured faculty to teach a wide variety of honors classes. The honors faculty come from a wide range of departments and backgrounds. This diversity provides the Honors College with highly valued innovative teaching methods and ideas. Faculty have the opportunity to propose courses and supervise theses. For information about current offerings, please visit our searchable Honors College course catalog.

Temporary/nontenured faculty are appointed to teach one to four courses per semester. Teaching appointments are based upon student demand on a semester by semester basis. Eligibility for annual reappointment is contingent upon satisfactory annual performance evaluations during the term period, in addition to continuity of funding and need.

Successful candidates may teach at the San Marcos and Round Rock campuses and/or online, depending on the needs of the academic department.

Required Qualifications

Specific educational requirements vary by position, but a minimum of a master's degree with 18 graduate hours in the teaching field is generally required.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous teaching experience is preferred.

To be reviewed, a complete course proposal must be received by the relevant deadline. Required components of a course proposal include: (1) Curriculum vitae, (2) Letter of Intent, and (3) Honors College Course Proposal Form. In addition, current faculty should provide the following: (1) Departmental Approval Form and (2) Course Substitution Form The relevant forms listed above are available for download at Honors College – Propose a New Honors Course. Candidates selected for hire will be required to provide official transcripts from all degree granting universities.
