We are seeking to recruit Specialist Study Skills Tutors to support the academic progress of students at both Falmouth University and University of Exeter (Cornwall campuses).
This role involves providing study skills support to students with various and sometimes complex conditions including Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD and Specific Learning Differences (SpLDs). As part of this role, you will offer one-to-one study skills support to a caseload of students, encouraging independence in learning, promoting a sense of confidence and self-worth and developing effective independent study skills strategies.
An important additional aspect of the work is efficient use of CRM (Customer Relationship Management) systems to communicate, book appointments and record sessions with students.
This role is campus-based, but you may be required to work with students online when this is their preference.About You
As well as experience in working professionally with adults or young people in a teaching role, you will have membership of a professional body and qualifications as recognised within the “DfE Mandatory Criteria” for Specialist study skills tutors (document available to download from here. The details of accepted professional membership bodies are on pp 11 to 13).
We are particularly interested in hearing from study skills tutors who are qualified and experienced in supporting students with autism as well as SpLDs.
You will be a confident and competent IT user with experience of using CRMs and applications such as Microsoft Office. You will also have a good knowledge of using and incorporating Assistive Technology (AT) within the study skills session.
This position is offered on a casual hourly paid basis.
