Digital Technology Services Professional & Business Support Grade 6 - £28,762 to £35,333 per annum, dependent on experience (Fixed term for 2 years)
Sheffield Hallam's Digital Technology Service (DTS) department wishes to recruit a junior network engineer on a two-year temporary contract. As the successful candidate, you should have;

As part of the team, you will support other staff with IT incidents and service request. This will provide you with an ideal opportunity to further develop your professional skills.
As well as networks services, the team support the VoIP telephony services and other IT environmental infrastructure, such as comms and server room power, rack space, UPS, and aircon. We are part of DTS' Cloud, Networks and Infrastructure (CNI) section. CNI support both Cloud and on-premises IT infrastructure. And, as the network itself underpins IT security, we operate closely with the cybersecurity team.
You will play an important role on our project to replace of over 500 campus switches and 1500 wireless access points. Possibly also helping expand the capabilities of the service through the deployment of technologies such as Software Defined Networks (SDN) and Software Defined Access (SDA).
Being self-motivated with the ability to work independently is very important. You should expect to spend much of your time;
As part of the team, you will help transport and install equipment. Sometimes working in confined comms or server rooms. There will be limited opportunity for hybrid working and you will be expected to show some flexibility around you working hours as key network maintenance often takes place outside of core hours (9-5 - Monday to Friday).
Having practical experience of any of the following is not a requirement but would be of advantage:
A willingness and an ability to work weekends, early mornings and evenings on a rota basis is essential. You must possess a full UK valid driving license.
