To assist Principal Investigator (PI) in completing ongoing research projects and to support the PharmD program as a Teaching Assistant.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

1. Familiar with laboratory surroundings. 2. Knowledge of general laboratory equipment. 3. Should have knowledge of terminology for common chemicals and lab supply items. 4. Familiarity with computers and internet search techniques.

Required Qualifications

1. EDUCATION: A bachelor's degree in science or pharmacy.

2. EXPERIENCE: No specific experience is needed, but must be familiar with laboratory surroundings.

3. Must be an admitted student to the Western University of Health Sciences, College of Pharmacy's, MSBPS Program.

Essential Job Duties

Job Duties

Primary Duties:

- Assist PI and graduate students with ongoing research projects.

- General maintenance of laboratory and equipment.

- Conduct inventory of chemicals and supplies.

- Conduct literature searches in the library and online.

- Observe and participate in learning new laboratory research techniques.

Percentage Of Time 75% Job Duties

- Serve as a proctor during examinations administered in the PharmD curriculum.- Other duties as assigned from time to time by the P.I.

Describe Work Environment

Duties are routinely performed in a typical laboratory setting. While performing duties in this setting the employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold (non-weather), and risk of electric shock. The employee is regularly exposed to wet humid conditions (non-weather), moving mechanical parts, and high precarious places. The employee is occasionally exposed to outdoor weather conditions, extreme heat (non- weather), and risk of radiation. The noise level in this setting may be loud due to the noise of ventilation system and hydraulic body hoist.
