Overview of Moves, Events and Servicing Crew
Purdue University Northwest Building Services department is seeking a Day
Shift Custodian. This position ensures the cleanliness, safety and appearance
of assigned buildings in accordance with established standards. Ensure
departmental services are completed within established frequencies while
working with customers to minimize their inconvenience and maintain
satisfaction. May coordinate, schedule, assign and inspect the work activities
for a group of custodial employees.
Pay:
$14.75/hour depending on experience
Schedule:
6:30am – 3:00pm Monday – Friday
Duties and Responsibilities of Moves, Events and Servicing Crew
Setup and dismantle furniture and equipment for events
Work directly with event sponsor and customers for any special needs
during the event
Work with scheduling department to identify customer expectations
Provide support to the University for office, furniture, and equipment
moves
Will travel between PNW locations for moves
Disassemble and reassemble items as needed to move effectively and
efficiently
Work with the customer to determine time of delivery and placement of
furniture/equipment
Utilize PNW Building Services vehicles (box truck/lift, pickup truck)
Perform custodial functions in assigned buildings/areas including but not
limited to: mopping, waxing, sweeping, scrubbing, stripping, & buffing
floors. Disinfecting toilets and sinks. Cleaning walls & washing windows.
Areas include but are not limited to: stairwells, lounges, hallways, gym,
offices, classrooms/conference rooms, laboratories, vending/lounges,
restrooms, Library, cafeteria/dining. Replenish restroom supplies.
Safely use cleaning chemicals, load chemical dispensers, deliver supplies
to areas as needed
Perform recycling duties which include but not limited to picking up and
emptying recycling bins throughout various building on campus
Responsible for the operations at the campus warehouse including
organization and cleaning
Perform clean up after floods, vandalism, fires, etc
Operate and maintain power and non-power equipment including; mops,
shovels, brooms, pressure washers, scrubbers, power floor sweepers,
shampooers, vacuums, high-speed floor machines, buffers, walk behind floor
machines and floor machine riders
Perform re-lamping of lights

No experience required
Previous experience with moves, events and servicing is preferred

Valid driver's license required & must be an acceptable vehicle driver
under the Purdue University Risk Management Standards
Must be able to bend, kneel, climb a ladder up to 10' high
Demonstrate stable work history
Ability to work adjusted schedule depending on coverage needs
Ability to lift and carry 50-80 lbs frequently, and up to 100+ lbs
occasionally
Work overtime periodically to meet the business needs of the University
Must be able to travel to other PNW locations as needed
