About the Role This position will play a key role in teaching and learning at Melbourne Law School (MLS), in particular, through theIan Malkin Centre for Legal Academic Skills. The successful applicant will be supervised by the Director of the Ian Malkin Centre and work with both the Director and the Associate Dean (Teaching and Learning) to ensure that a coordinated legal academic skills program is delivered to MLS students. This role will involve providing assistance to MLS students through skills-workshops, developing online learning resources to support students' independent skills development, coaching students and providing individualised feedback and advice on essay and assignment writing through student consultations.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting the Director of the Ian Malkin Centre and the Associate Dean (Teaching and Learning) in developing a strategy for supporting the development of legal academic skills at MLS
  • Designing and delivering workshops to support law students' academic skills development in the JD and MLM programs
  • Developing student resources, such as academic guides and self-directed skills modules, to support independent online learning
  • Who We Are Looking For You should have outstanding oral and written communication skills, and excel in teaching students from diverse backgrounds, including those for whom English is an additional language. You will be able to create safe and inclusive learning spaces, conduct skill-development workshops, offer one-on- one coaching, and balance independence with collaborative teamwork, ensuring successful outcomes for all.

    You will also have:

  • A Doctoral degree in law.
  • Teaching experience in the higher education environment in law.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach in a compulsory subject in the JD curriculum.
