Position Summary

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of North Carolina is recruiting a dynamic individual to join the Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery (MIGS) team. The Department is seeking candidates who are Board Certified/Board Eligible in Obstetrics and Gynecology for a full- time clinical faculty position. The MIGS division is currently comprised of three full-time AAGL MIGS-fellowship trained attendings, two FMIGS fellows, a physician assistant, and a Family Medicine physician. The Division has grown a consultative surgical and pelvic pain practice, with approximately 200 referrals per month and more than 700 surgeries annually. The Division's mission is to provide exceptional patient care for the people of North Carolina and the surrounding states, conduct innovative research, and to ensure excellence in the education of trainees at all levels. The Division cares for patients with complicated benign gynecologic and pelvic pain conditions and serves as consultants for advanced minimally invasive surgical care. Experience in management of chronic pelvic and vulvar pain conditions is preferred; faculty development available for the right candidate.

This is a faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor, and will be tenure track or fixed-term, dependent on the candidate's qualifications. Ideal candidates will be highly motivated individuals with strong leadership and communication skills. The candidate should have demonstrated excellence in clinical care, an established academic track record in research and/or other scholarly activity, and a commitment to the career development of fellow faculty and trainees.

The candidate will join the UNC-Chapel Hill Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, one of the top programs in the country. With over 100 faculty in 10 different divisions and more than 50 residents and fellows, this department is known for its excellence in clinical care, robust research portfolio (ranked #3 in NIH funding), and outstanding training programs (a Doximity ranked #3 residency program and 8 fellowships).

Responsibilities will include:

• Surgical and non-surgical management of simple and complex gynecologic disorders, chronic pelvic pain and chronic vulvar pain

• Surgical consultation for complex gynecologic disorders (Class III obesity, stage IV endometriosis, uterine size > 25 weeks, complicated medical/surgical history); gender-affirming surgery

• Shared specialty GYN call and subspecialty MIGS call; no obstetric responsibilities

• Core faculty for the MIGS fellowship and the OB-GYN residency program

• Clinical, operative, didactic, and simulation education for fellows, residents, and medical students

• Participation in quality improvement initiatives

• Oversight and assurance of unit protocols, policies, and quality measures

• Contribution to clinical research projects

• Mentorship of fellows, residents, and medical student, including research projects

• Commitment to serving patients from diverse racial, gender, and financial backgrounds

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

An MD/DO degree with successful completion of a 4-year ACGME approved residency in Obstetrics & Gynecology and an AAGL approved fellowship training in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery are required.

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience

Board Certified/Board Eligible in Obstetrics and Gynecology, as determined by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Completion of a 2-year AAGL Fellowship in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery.

Excellent qualifications and letters of recommendation are required. A track record of strong clinical and surgical competence and experience in treating women with chronic pelvic pain will be given special consideration. Experience in an academic medical center is preferred, but not required. Salary will be commensurate with experience.
