Position Metadata and Electronic Resources Assistant

Job Category Library Services Job Description

Under the Metadata and Electronic Resources Librarian, maintains electronic resources functionality, performs copy cataloging, enhances and creates metadata for access to library resources, participates in special projects involving metadata, systems, electronic resources, and other areas as needed, supervises processing of physical materials.

Job Duties

  • Maintains electronic resources
  • Performs integrated library systems functions and maintenance;
  • Performs copy cataloging
  • Participates in library projects as assigned
  • Receives and oversees the processing of library materials
  • Supervises library student assistants processing materials
  • Participates in and contributes to Library team activities as assigned
  • Participates in ongoing skills and performance enhancement through workshops, webinars, and other continuing education opportunities
  • Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Knowledge of and experience with current computer technology is imperative
  • Technical experience, preferably in a library environment
  • Ability to work independently and in close association with others in a team-oriented workplace
  • Strong organizational and problem solving skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with integrated library systems
  • Familiarity with technical library activities (library systems, cataloging, electronic resources functionality, etc.)
  • Experience working with students or other supervisory activities
