Job Description:

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:

The Physician Assistant (PA) Program at Augsburg University invites applications to fill the Medical Director position starting Nov 1st, 2021. This is a non-tenure track position at the rank of Instructor, and 0.25 FTE, 12-month faculty position reporting directly to the PA Program Director.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

The Medical Director must help to ensure that the didactic instruction and supervised clinical experiences meet the current standards of medical practice in primary care. The medical director is an advocate for the PA program in the community and helps facilitate the development, implementation and evaluation of both the curriculum and program overall.

The primary responsibilities of this position include:

  • Participate in the accreditation process of the PA program.
  • Teach didactically in their area of specialty as well as other areas of interest.
  • Work with PA students on their Master's thesis papers
  • Teach PA students clinically in supervised clinical practice experiences.
  • Work with PA students on their Master's thesis papers
  • Participate in the identification, recruitment, development and maintenance of clinical teaching sites.
  • Assist in establishing and cultivating relationships with community partners, creating experiential learning and community service opportunities.
  • Mentor and advise PA students.
  • Participate in the Admissions Committee and the Progression Review Committee (disciplinary committee).
  • Work clinically as a physician in Minnesota
  • Requirements:

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    Candidates must have a medical degree from an LCME or AOA accredited institution.

  • Must be practicing clinically as a physician in the State of Minnesota and hold a current Minnesota Medical License.
  • Must be board certified in Family Medicine
  • Must have experience working in PA education
  • PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A documented record of academic leadership and mentorship of graduate students is preferred.
