Job Summary
Under general direction of the CTRC Unit Lead and Clinical Research
Coordinator, the Medical Assistant provides general office management (front
desk reception, subject scheduling, and data management), technical
assistance (collecting, processing, coordinating samples, specimens,
information, and data). This person will also operate the clinic van over a
designated route in accordance with a program schedule.
Essential Duties
Collect, process and assist in the compilation and verification of
research data samples, and/or specimens (following strict protocol and
detailed instructions).
Collects data; records research procedures and results; files and
maintains records; electronic data storage; inputs and retrieves data
using computers.
Assists with research projects by implementing procedures for IRB approved
protocols.
Maintain CSC/CTRC instruments, equipment and supplies.
Following established policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous
quality improvement objectives, and safety, environmental, and/or
infection control standards.
Recruiting subjects for studies and developing tools to improve study
protocol conduct.
Answering telephones, greeting participants and CSC/CTRC guest, filing,
and scheduling appointments.
Transport participants to and from CSC/CTRC and other approved sites.
Assist with vehicle maintenance by effectively communicating the need for
repairs or damages.
Scheduling transportation of participants and map/plan safe and efficient
transportation routes
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Regionally accredited undergraduate degree or combined education and
experience in related field.
Certification as a Medical Assistant.
Skilled Phlebotomist.
Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (CPR and AED).
Active valid California Driver's License.
Experience with medical terminology in research.
Minimum Requirements
Ability to understand and follow detailed technical instructions.
Ability to maintain quality, safety, and /or infection control standards.
Ability to understand and follow basic scientific research protocol and
procedure.
Strong interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective working
relationships with clients.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, and
PowerPoint), email, and internet.
Preferred Qualifications
One or more years of clinical research experience is preferred
