Salary Information Commensurate with experience Department Summary

HSC Health is the academic clinical practice for the Health Science Center. Focused on improving health outcomes to build a healthier community. HSC Health primary and multispecialty care clinics are located on the HSC campus in Fort Worth. Our care teams extend to local hospitals, surgery centers, long-term and continuing care centers, and mobile and in-home care. HSC Health's interprofessional teams work collaboratively to achieve an optimized treatment plan tailored to the individual patient. Physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, physical therapists, pharmacists, social workers, psychologists, specialized technicians, and nurses work together while intentionally integrating health care students, residents, and fellows to deliver care to our community.

Position Overview

HSC Health Pediatric Department is seeking to hire a Medical Assistant to join our team. A Medical Assistant will perform administrative and certain clinical duties under the direction of a physician. Administrative duties may include scheduling appointments, maintaining medical records, billing, and coding information for insurance purposes. Clinical duties may include taking and recording vital signs and medical histories, preparing patients for examination, drawing blood, and administering medications as directed by the physician.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Completion of accredited Medical Assistant Program
  • Six (6) months of customer service experience
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Medical office front and back office operations support knowledge.
  • Demonstrates basic skills and knowledge of the job; maintains and enhances clinical skills and knowledge on a regular basis; keeps up with current developments and trends in areas of expertise.
  • Consistently produces thorough and timely work; is very attentive to details; asks questions to accurately document Patient information and update records; shows concern for every aspect of the job; takes initiative to identify issues and problem solve; ensures excellent communication and follow up basis; keeps up with current developments and trends in areas of expertise.
  • Preferred Qualifications

    Medical Assistant Certification recommended

    Required License / Registration / Certification Work Schedule

    Monday – Friday, 8am-5pm
