Job Title Mechanic I - Electrician Department Facilities Management

Position Summary Information

Job Summary

Responsibilities include, but not limited to, ensuring proper operation of the campus electrical system, including adhering to local, state, and federal regulations. Installation, repair and maintenance of all electrical equipment on campus. Position is on-call on a rotating basis with other trades personnel.

Responsibilities:

  • Install, Repair or replace wiring, equipment, or fixtures using hand and power tools.
  • Ensure safe operation of the Campus Electrical system.
  • Identify electrical problems with a variety of testing devices.
  • Maintaining licensure and code expertise while providing college with guidance on regulatory compliance and recommendations on new construction and alterations. Follow state and local building regulations based on the National Electric Code.
  • Read blueprints and technical diagrams prior to doing work and inform maintenance manager of changes for documentation on drawings.
  • Staff training on daily checks and informational updates on operational status of areas of responsibility due to life safety nature of position.
  • Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
  • Licensure in the electrical trade
  • Three years or more of experience in electrical trade
  • Minimum of Journeyman's license required
