The successful candidate is expected to demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching, participate in graduate and undergraduate research, student advising, and university service as outlined by the CMU Faculty Agreement and departmental bylaws.

  • Teaching. Teach 9 credit hours per semester in a face-to-face and/or online format in at least two of the following areas: biostatistics, research methods, program evaluation, social and behavioral sciences or health informatics.
  • Research. Direct undergraduate and graduate research; conduct research and scholarly endeavors that lead to securing extramural funding to support an ongoing research agenda.
  • Advising and Service. Advise graduate students; involvement in campus and community service; facilitate relationships with colleagues within the university and stakeholders at the local, state, national and international levels.
  • Assist with reviewing applied practical experience portfolio and contribute to the MPH program accreditation process.
  • Required Qualifications

  • Earned Doctorate (PhD, DrPH, DHA, EdD, ScD) in public health or related field. ABD candidates are encouraged to apply if it is clear the degree will be completed by the start of the appointment.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and teach college courses.
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a collaborative faculty environment.
  • Demonstrated or a proposed plan of research activity.
  • Demonstrated interest in securing extramural grants and contracts.
  • Commitment to advancing diversity and inclusion.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Master of Public Health (MPH).
  • Experience or understanding of online educational learning and teaching.
  • Professional, consulting, or related experience in health systems management.
  • Experience in securing extramural grants and contracts.
  • Established record of peer-reviewed publication.

    The Herbert H. and Grace A. Dow College of Health Professions consists of five academic units (Department of Physical Therapy, Department of Physical Education and Sport, Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders, the School of Health Sciences and the School of Rehabilitation and Medical Science). It offers undergraduate and/or graduate degree programs in American Sign Language , audiology, communication disorders, public health, health administration, school health education, physical therapy, physician assistant, exercise science, substance abuse prevention, speech-language pathology, physical education, athletic training, athletic coaching and sport management, delivered by 100+ faculty/staff.
