Start of employment: April 1st or by agreement, 1 year with possible extension
The Sensing and Monitoring Lab (samlab) is embedded into the
interdisciplinary environment of the University of Bern, Inselspital Bern, and
the Diabetes Center Berne. By combining expertise from the fields of
engineering, medicine, and computer science, the samlab focuses on developing
innovative sensing technologies that can enhance the management of diabetes.
Tasks
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing
cutting-edge mass spectrometry techniques for the analysis of exhaled breath.
The candidate will:
Conduct experiments and interpret results to advance the field of breath
analysis.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary researchers and staff within the
University and with external partners including start-ups and industry.
Publish research findings in scientific journals and present results at
conferences.
Be responsible for the new analytical instruments unit at the Diabetes
Center Berne
Requirements
We are looking for enthusiastic candidates with excellent technical skills to
join our research group. Candidates are expected to have the following
experience:
Master or PhD in Analytical Chemistry, Biomedical Engineering, or a
related field
Strong expertise in mass spectrometry and its applications, especially in
breath analysis
Experience in method development, instrumentation, and data analysis
Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking and communication skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Excellent English language skills
